You can download Photoshop free, but it is not “Pro” software. The only parts of Photoshop that are made available to users for free are the tutorials, the stock images, and the Photoshop Filters, which are described below.

Photoshop is the flagship product of Adobe Photoshop that has been around for twenty years. Although in the year 2000 the two-year-old Adobe Photoshop 1.0 shipped with only the basic functions, it has evolved into a leading software package for image editing with the addition of a host of powerful features.

Adobe Photoshop Pro and the software bundle

Photoshop Pro makes use of the features of the core program, but also supports additional features. (Adobe Photoshop CS packages have a high price, but a low software package price—the Pro version of Photoshop is the high-priced version.)

Adobe has a special bundling method: in order to buy the Photoshop Pro package, you must also purchase the Creative Suite, an Adobe application package, which contains a number of other indispensable tools that support the creation of high-quality images.

How to install and use Photoshop

You will also need the latest version of Adobe Photoshop, preferably the latest Photoshop CS or Photoshop CC, which is offered as a download. If you bought Photoshop as part of a CS bundle, the version of Photoshop will automatically install.

If you installed Photoshop on your own, you should open it and make sure that it is up to date. If it is not, you can update it via the Help menu.

The standard user interface for Photoshop

Generally, you open Photoshop by double-clicking on its icon in Windows Explorer. Although some users will find it faster to load by using the Start menu or the Programs menu in Windows, double-clicking on the icon always works.

The interface is organized into four tabs. The user can save an image to a file or, in the case of layers, to an Adobe Bridge library. To access the preferences, go to the options menu.

There is a Help menu that contains useful tutorials on Photoshop. There is also a Options button that, when you press it, displays a popup window with further settings.

Your first basic thing you’ll want to do with Elements is go through all the Basic:

This is the beginning of your learning path and is good to get familiar with. You can also do this at the beginning of your training path in Photoshop.

1. Show all the workspace shortcuts

Adobe Photoshop Elements has three different workspaces:

Work, which is for the main editing actions.

Photomerge, which is for the combined actions: Edit > Photomerge > “Quick” or Use > Merge Layers.

Editor, which is for the individual actions: Edit > Editor > “Quick” or Use > Draw

You’ll want to go into the Work space first. To do so, click on the letter W in the upper right corner of the Photoshop Elements screen.

For this tutorial, I’m going to be concentrating on Work. Once you’re done with this tutorial, you’ll want to go into the other workspaces if you haven’t already.

I’m building an application using Java and I want to implement LDA but I’m having troubles.
Based on this link, LDA is described as follows:

Given a collection of documents and a corpus of pre-defined words,
LDA is an algorithm that seeks to understand the relationship between
the words in the documents.

This is the data I have:
Collections of 50 documents all with the same word (d) one after the other. The size of a document is 50 words (words in a document are a set of word)
For each word, the frequency (i.e. number of occurrence) of that word is stored in the corpus.
To estimate the LDA model, I’m using a plugin (Smoth LDA) which splits my documents in 500 segments of length 25 words.
The plugin returns several matrices:
Matrix of frequencies, i.e. every document has the total number of words (occurrences) in my corpus
Matrix of unique words
Matrix of documents * unique words
Matrix of documents * frequencies of unique words
Matrix of frequencies of unique words
Matrix of documents * unique frequencies of unique words
My understanding of the situation is that:
1 – Matrix of frequencies (every document has the total number of words (occurrences) in my corpus) is the “vocabulary”.
2 – Matrix of unique words is a matrix of every unique word in the corpus.
3 – Matrix of documents * unique words is a matrix where each row is one word, each column is the corresponding document and each cell is the number of occurrences of that unique word in that document.
4 – Matrix of documents * frequencies of unique words is a matrix where each row is one unique word, each column is one document and each cell is the number of occurrences of that word in that document.
5 – Matrix of frequencies of unique words is a matrix where every cell is the frequency of that word (i.e. occurs in the document).
6 – Matrix of documents * unique frequencies of unique words is a matrix where each row is one document, each column is the corresponding unique word and each cell is the number of occurrences of that word in that document.
