Figure 19-16 offers some ways to open and close folders in the Finder.

You can open any folder by double-clicking its icon in the sidebar or by clicking the folder. Double-clicking is the easiest way to open any folder, but you can also press +O.

You can also choose File⇒Open or press +O. Either option opens the chosen file for viewing. To close a folder, press the key. Figure 19-16 shows a close box next to the folder that contains the files.

You can also press Shift-⌘-N to get to the Go Up one level

‘Meijer’ Used in ‘Meijer’

Last week, Businessweek called meijer “the dominant player” in the $6.6 billion dollar grocery store business, thanks to the company’s aggressive expansion into the $12 billion dollar online market. The meijer.com site does more than just sell groceries, now offering a full online shopping experience and a place to check out the latest bargains. Granted I haven’t shopped for groceries online, but I did check out the company’s web domain, and sure enough, “meijer.com” is an anagram of “meijer”![Effect of R-lipopolysaccharide from Salmonella abortus equi on cell cycle and apoptosis of K562 cells].
This study was aimed to investigate the effect of R-lipopolysaccharide from Salmonella abortus equi (R-LPS) on cell cycle and apoptosis of K562 cells in vitro. Cell cycle and apoptosis of K562 cells were measured by flow cytometry (FCM) and fluorescent microscopy respectively. The cell proliferation was evaluated by MTT colorimetric assay. The DNA content, the expression of G0/G1, G2/M phase related genes (c-myc, cyclin A, cyclin B, p21 and p53) and Bcl-2, bax, mitochondrial membrane potential and the activation of caspase-3 were analyzed by flow cytometry and immunocytochemistry. R-LPS induced the cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase in K562 cells, and the DNA content in G2/M phase changed from 1.0 to 1.5 after the treatment with R-LPS. The expression of c-myc, cyclin A and cyclin B decreased obviously, while that of bcl-2 increased. R-LPS also increased the ratio of cells in sub-G0/G1 phase and apoptosis, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential and activated caspase-3. The expression of p21 and p53 was not affected by R-LPS. The results demonstrated that R-LPS could induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of K562 cells by regulating the expression of related genes and blocking the mitochondrial membrane potential and activating caspase-3.In Northern Ireland, giving knowledge of or providing

Photographic image scanners convert images from an original into electronic form suitable for various image processing and printing purposes. Some scanners are designed to be handheld, while others are intended to be fixed, such as in a central, departmental or other repository. Handheld scanners are used for scanning from a distance, which often involves placing the scanner on a flat surface and pointing it to a subject, wherein the subject is initially aligned on the flat surface in an orientation suitable for scanning. A user then holds the scanner pointing at the subject. To scan the subject, the user then brings the scanner into an approach position, wherein the subject is in the field of view of the scanner in an orientation suitable for scanning. The subject is then moved into the alignment position.
With some prior art handheld scanners, the image sensor has a lens that is either fixed relative to the body of the scanner or has a position that does not change relative to the body of the scanner. The lens functions to direct light from an image onto the image sensor. A user may move a transparent image support, such as a sheet of paper, across the lens. The light that is reflected from the subject is focused on a receiving surface of the image sensor, thereby allowing the scanner to generate an electronic representation of the subject. The image support is scanned, an electronic representation of the image is produced, and the image support is then returned to the subject.
Different image sensors have different capabilities. For example, some image sensors allow for focusing on the subject to be scanned. Typically, these image sensors can achieve better results when a subject is focused and aligned. Other image sensors have a fixed focal length and are designed to take general pictures. These image sensors are typically adequate for working on general color subjects, but are not good at focusing on the subject. Thus, there is a need to move the subject into a position that is in focus so that a suitable image can be produced.
One problem with handheld scanners is that the lens has a fixed focal length. For a given image sensor, the depth of field of the lens determines the extent of the image that will be in focus. As a subject moves into the field of view of the lens, the resulting portion of the subject in focus may move outside of the field of view of the lens. For example, a user may place a subject onto a flat surface having a reference point. The user may then use the reference point as a guide as to where the subject is in the field of view of the lens.
